The song is a mix of Reggaeton and pop was released in the year 2017 by singer from Puerto Rico Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. The song became the most-streamed at that in just six months. In 2015 there were two predominantly Spanish-speaking songs in Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. At the peak of Despacito's popularity in 2017, 19 tracks primarily composed in Spanish made it to the top 100. It climbed to 41 in 2020. Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix to Despacito (2017) well-known musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton musicians, such as Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna with Maluma in Medellin (2019). The gradual mainstreaming of reggaeton became an issue for certain performers during the year the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a younger generation wanted to preserve the style. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music and other styles was a common practice.
